 |
Paul Sickles started Engineering Evaluation & Design, Inc. (EE&D) in 1995 after spending nearly 10 years in the engineering profession as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Structural Analysis Engineer, and Engineering Consultant.
Mr. Sickles also has specific experience developing innovative designs and analytical techniques aimed at using advanced materials in new applications. He has performed system weight trade studies comparing various structural configurations of sheet & stringer, honeycomb, and truss-core designs as well as material composition variations. He is knowledgeable of design and analysis methods using high and low ductility materials.
His experience in these areas include conceptualization
and design of the first flight, like Gamma TiAl structure
to be successfully fabricated and tested at NASA in support
of the High Speed Civil Transport program. Since then,
Mr. Sickles has
designed a Hypersonic Engine Inlet Flap for the NASA Revolutionary
AeroSpace Engine Research (RASER) Program using Gamma TiAl.
Representative hardware was built and successfully tested
at NASA in 2003.
Hardware designs, test definition, analysis techniques and design criterion have been specified by Mr. Sickles. He has also provided the needed tooling designs and specimen testing implements along with data interpretations to support research and development programs.
Mr. Sickles engineering career began at United
Technologies Pratt & Whitney in 1987 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at P&W, he performed design and analysis tasks for various military engine programs ranging from the J58 (SR71 Engine) to the F119 (Advanced Tactical Fighter Engine) and others. His experience includes evaluations of non-conforming hardware, failure investigations, and conceptual through production engine hardware design. Analytical and Design work has included rotating and static hardware.
